Max started Preschool last week. He attends a christian based school. I wanted him to attend a school that helps teach the basics but I also wanted a school that shared God's love. Rewind a few weeks ago, Max and I met his teacher, Ms. Elizabeth and Ms. Naomi. The classroom is darling filled with toys, cubbys, circle time, and bible verses. During our meet the teacher Max loved preschool.
Max last week had a very hard time with preschool. He didn't want to go, AT ALL! I had to do something. Thankfully he does not go full time, just a couple of days a week.
So what in the world was I going to do to ease this transition?
I prayed, and prayed, and prayed some more.
Then I found books for Max and I to read together.
I first found this book, which we read each night before he has school.
I make sure to stop and talk about what the little boy is doing and talk about how Max does the same things at preschool too. This helped tremendously!
Then I went to Costco and I swear it was like God placed this book right in front of me for Max and I.
Here are the monkeys, which are like puzzle pieces. They have different feelings and Max gets to decide how Monkey Max is feeling.
Here is the first page. I'm telling you this book was made for us. This book has really helped him.
And guess who likes preschool now?
I wish that he didn't have to start so early, but he goes when I am working. Which thankfully isn't a lot. Just in this last week of him going, he has learned so much. He constantly reminds me to pray before we eat. He tells me how many things I am holding. Today I had two water bottles and he looked at me and said, two of them momma, two bottles. I took him to Gymboree yesterday and he actually shared his instrument. This was not the case a few weeks ago, everything was mine. Regardless of what he learns, I ultimately want him to have fun and be respectful. So even though it was tough to begin with I am so proud of him.
I am so proud of the little boy he is growing into.
We will work on the whole back pack thing. He would rather wear it in the front. This is a battle I chose not to fight ;)
