Our day started early. I woke up and went for a run. Running in Colorado was so nice. The mornings were chilly enough to cool me off, unlike Albuquerque where I am in a constant state of sweat.
We stayed with my mom, so after we all got ready, we threw on our matching shirts and headed out for the parade.
Max really enjoyed the candy.
The floats were neat but Max found the lollipop to be more interesting :)
Max kept himself busy by turning Grandma and Daddy into a jungle gym.
I am happy that the funnel cake stand was closed because I would have eaten one along with a corn dog and lemonade ;)
The smoke pretty much hung around the rest of the day. We still were able to have a traditional 4th of July BBQ. The kids had the most fun playing at the park pretending to be pirates. Phil was the captain and he had the kids cracking up with his pirate vocabulary and accent. He amazes me. He is a wonderful man!
My sister had to chase baby Adyson around the park. This little girl is one independent lady! She is 16 months going on 17! She sure is sweet though!
After our BBQ at the park we headed over to Loveland to set up camp and watch the fireworks show. Since almost all of Colorado is or was on fire, the firework shows were very limited. I am not complaining, I totally understand! I thought for sure that Loveland would be a disaster and crazy busy but it was far from that. We set up a cozy spot in the shade near the park and close to the water. The kids were able to run around and play and the parents could sit around and chat. After a few trips around the park and a million handfuls of popcorn we settled down to watch the fireworks.
This was Max's first time watching fireworks. Well, actually he saw them at Disneyland. But this was his first 4th of July fireworks show. And he didn't love it. "It's too loud mommy! cover my ears!"
You gotta love being a mom :)

I made sure to take a picture with my nieces and nephew. I can't believe how big they are getting!
We had a wonderful 4th. I was just so thankful that I was able to spend it with my family.
