Love Matters!

Last week in my classroom we talked about Martin Luther King, Jr. and the importance of him and all that he did. As a class we came up with a 'dream' that we had for our classroom. Some of the answers were a little out there, which is completely understandable because I do teach 1st grade. One student's dream was so simply put and it reminded me how complicated us adults tend to make things. He said, "Our dream should be, to love everyone because we are all people and we need love." Easy peasy, right?!? I have found myself driving down the road and shouting at the driver in front of me because I am in a hurry. I have found myself grumbling at the teller at the bank because I don't need a higher credit limit or another credit card. I have found myself speaking ugly words about someone because they have done something hurtful to me. This innocent little boy's quote really resonated with me. I should just love everyone, we are all people, we all have our problems, but really all we need is genuine love. So let today help us remember to love people because we all need love.
I was doing some research on Martin Luther King, Jr. for my class and came across this beautiful quote of his,"I submit to you that if a man hasn't discovered something that he will die for, he isn't fit to live."

Powerful stuff.

 I have found that something.
I was blessed with that something.

If I have enough love to die for my sweet boy then I most certainly have enough love to share with the slow driver or the teller at the bank just doing his job or the person that said hurtful words.

"Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter."
Martin Luther King, Jr.

Love matters.

This mom mom saw the world today through a different lens.
I have got the love. I just need to work on sharing it.
