Advent Calendar and A Santa Visit

I have created my own 25 day countdown to Christmas. I will call it the Friedman Family Advent. I have always wanted to do this and now that Max is almost old enough I figured we would start it this year. I recently bought a train advent at Kohl's. Max loves trains and it fit some of my holiday decorations so I had to buy it. I created a list of 25 things to put into each little door. Every evening til Christmas we will open the door to see what our surprise is going to be.Of course I already know the surprise, but seeing Max's face is going to be my surprise. Some of the activities include crafts, baking, looking at Christmas lights, etc.

Day 1:
Max enjoyed opening and closing the door more then the actual activity...but that is okay!

Our surprise was.....
Make salt dough ornaments!
2 cups flour, 1 cup salt, and 1 cup COLD water. Knead the dough use a cookie cutter to make ornament, poke a hole in the top and let dry. They can air dry for 24-48 hours or you can bake in oven at 200 for about 20 minutes.

Very messy with a toddler...but ever so much fun!
 Look at those eyes!

Our beautiful star! We will paint it when it drys.
I will update the advent activities as much as I can. If you are interested in the activities I put together, message me and I will get them to you.

So I took my boy to see Sanna (Santa). I went early this year because last year was absolute chaos waiting in line for 2 hours! Max was very excited when we got there. He loved seeing the Santa house, Christmas trees, and snowmen. He loved seeing the kids. But guess what he didn't love?!?!

SANTA!

I really can't blame the poor monkey. A complete stranger with a white beard and a bright red costume is probably a little terrifying. The good news is that we only waited 10 minutes...had I waited 2 hours I may have been a little upset :) I guess there is always next year!
